La Galette des Rois (King's cake) is traditionally eaten in on the second sunday after Christmas (During the beautifully named Festival of Epiphany) and luckily for me that day just happens to be today.
In Paris, and I believe the North of France, it is a puff-pastry patisserie with an almond paste filling. In the South of France I have been told it is more like a brioche with dried fruits (Le Gรขteau des Rois).
Each Galette has a something placed inside it, like the penny in a British Christmas pudding, and the person who finds it in their piece of cake becomes the King or Queen. Delicious!
ahhhh it looks amazing! When I come again we WILL be going to some patisseries! xx
